How to create a Metamask account

Metamask is a cryptocurrency wallet used to interface with the Ethereum Blockchain. It can be added and accessed as an extension through browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Brave Browser.

Setting up a Metamask account in your browser is quite simple, you just need to follow these steps:

Install a browser

For this tutorial I will be using Brave Browser which can be downloaded here: Download from Brave Browser or you can also use Chrome, Firefox, or Opera.

Install the MetaMask extension

After installing your Brave Browser, open it to navigate to this link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/metamask/nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn.

Click “Add to Brave” and then “Add Extension”.

After that, you will be redirected to the image above and simply click “Start” so you can set up your account.

Click “Create Wallet” and then click “I Agree”.

You will now be prompted to create a password for your account. Make sure it is strong and easy to remember. Enter your password, review the Terms of Use and click Create.

You will now see an introductory video about MetaMask, but you can skip it (if you want) and click Next.

You will receive a secret backup phrase that you can use to restore your account. Simply click on the “Click here to reveal secret words” button. After that, copy your sentence into a notebook and click Next.

You should not reveal it to anyone, as they can take your Ether. It is also advisable to download the secret phrase or write it down and protect it in a safe place.

After that, you will be asked to confirm your backup secret phrase in order. After that, click “Confirm”.

And that’s it, you have successfully created your MetaMask wallet. You can always access this in the extensions menu at the top of your browsers. Your address can be found under Account1 (see image above) and you can click on it to copy it.
